It is a common misconception that sod cannot be installed over the winter time in the Raleigh, Durham, and the Triangle Area.  This is simply not true.  There are many hardy varieties that can be installed with no problem.  I am not talking about just Tall Fescue, etiher.  Tall Fescue is a cool season grass that loves to be installed in the fall, winter, and very early spring.

Compadre Zoysia sod and North Bridge Bermuda sod are extremely hardy varieties.  Even when dormant, we continue to install year round.  These varieties of grass have such a high tolerance to winter kill and spring dead spot, we install year round with confidence knowing that it will green up with no problem in the spring.

Last winter, in late December, we had the pleasure of working with a customer in Raleigh who wanted to install compadre zoysia.  With confidence we installed the compadre zoysia, knowing that it would thrive and green up with no problems.  Browse our gallery below to take a look at the before,  and after photos.  The after photos were taken in late October of this year, almost a year after installation.  Our customer even won yard of the month in September with her garden club because the grass looked so amazing.

Don’t let winter hinder your yard plans.  These three types of grasses do not care.  North Bridge Bermuda Grass, Compadre Zoysia, and Tall Fescue sod is installed year round.
