Why We’ve Been Quiet on Social Media
By Amanda Musolino, Co-Owner of NC Sod and Mulch LLC dba NC Firewood
It’s no secret that we have been quiet on social media the past two years. I know that we like to think that sleeping is overrated, but the truth of the matter is we have been putting in very long hours and we have some exciting news to share. At the end of 2021, we were informed by the NCDOT that due to road expansion, we were losing our office in Fuquay Varina on route 55. We had known it was coming for a while, but it was still bittersweet to pack everything up and say goodbye to our old office.
Harnett County is wonderful and we are so happy to announce the opening of our Homesteading and Garden Center on Interstate 95. Located about 10 miles south of the Interstate 95 and Interstate 40 junction, we are able to service even more customers and expand our service area more. We’ve been working tirelessly on our very own commercial property. We’ve set up our greenhouse, put together our large parking lot, and we are open for business.
We will continue to offer our premier landscaping, hardscaping, drainage, and grading services across North Carolina. Our sod installation crew has been hard at work all summer in Four Oaks, Smithfield, Pikeville, Goldsboro, Wendell, Zebulon, and more. As North Carolina continues to see growth outside the Triangle area, we are listening to our customers and understanding their needs for our services to expand outwards.
Listening to our community is why we decided to get back into retail To be honest, we were pretty disgusted with some of the pricing that we saw in the big box stores. Our goal has always been to provide the best quality products and materials at the right price. We felt that it was time to do that. Currently we have mums, pumpkins, custom wood signs and displays, lighthouses, windmills, soil, mulch, and more. More information about our Homesteading and Garden Center can be found using this link:

We have a field planted with broccoli and collards and are expanding into agriculture too. Local produce, free range eggs, and our very own honey will be staples at our greenhouse. In the spring we are starting plants from seed too.
We can’t wait to help our customers and invite you to come out and see us.

We had the pleasure of working with Lisa from Raleigh in the beginning of December. She was finishing up the renovations on her house and asked us to install compadre zoysia sod in her yard. We had a great time and we were so happy to give her a gorgeous lawn. Even in dormancy, compadre zoysia looks amazing. Lisa had this to say:
“I could not be happier with how my new sod, mulch beds, and trees and shrubs look at my new house. John and Amanda from NC Mulch LLC were super responsive and very competitive with their pricing. From my first call to inquire about sod pricing to John quickly stopping by to take a look at the house and determine how much sod and mulch would be required to complete my lawn.
Once they provided me a cost estimate, I accepted it. John and his team were over at my house within a couple days to complete the work. They worked quickly and efficiently and the outcome looks great! I’ve already gotten compliments from the neighbors walking by. I would highly recommend NC Mulch LLC to any one looking for sod, mulch, topsoil, installation, etc.
On a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the best, I’d give them an 11.”
Thanks Lisa! We love making our customers happy!

Empire Zoysia is a newer zoysia turf grass that we have just started to use in the past three years. We were leery about it because it’s a newer turf grass. Empire Zoysia has excellent drought tolerance and has won awards for its resistance to spring dead spot. We’ve been installing Empire all over the Triangle area. Sean, has been very happy with his lawn. Here are some pictures of his lawn. We installed the Empire Zoysia in late September 2014 and it looks better than ever!

We are very excited to offer all our customers in Raleigh and the surrounding towns a new Bermuda grass. The last several years we have seen a Bermuda shortage. This is not the case for this year. We have gorgeous NorthBridge and Discovery Bermuda grass.

Late last week we were called to restore a gravel driveway in Raleigh. The hard rains from earlier this year had washed away a lot of his stone. It was decided that 78m stone was the way to go. The pea gravel is a nice gray color and is small, so it’s a great base to walk on. At the last minute, it was decided that a cobblestone curbing would finish it off perfectly.
