NC Sod and Mulch was called upon earlier this summer to tackle a massive sod installation job in Durham at Croasdaile Village Community.
For three weeks in July our expert sod installation team was sweating it out installing more than 56,000 square feet of sod in this Durham retirement community. It was certainly a big job – but we aren’t afraid of a little (or alot of) hard work. Sure, since it was the middle of July it was pretty hot – but we are professionals. We stayed hydrated and got the work done on schedule and on budget.
For those of you who don’t already know, Croasdaile Village calls themselves a, “Senior Lifestyle Community offering continuing care.” From our time there, I can tell you its lush country surroundings offer a scenic living area within easy reach from Durham. But, we were there to work, so let me share some more about the job.
The management team requested we install Tifway Bermuda grass to replace the fescue lawns around many of the cottages in the community. Tifway Bermuda grass has excellent tolerance for both heavy traffic and drought and is therefore a great value choice for large southern properties like Croasdaile.
As with any job we start by removing the existing lawn, leveling the remaining top soil and installing the new sod. In the gallery below, you can follow the process from bare soil to completed sod installation.

Final Results of Durham Sod Installation
Whenever we finish a sod job we leave our clients with a set of instructions on how to care for their newly sodded lawn. In the picture below you can see the new lawn is looking great after a week or so of care. It is green, lush, and weed free!
It was a pleasure for us to help enhance the lush beauty at this community.
